Two Types Of Back Pain Sufferers, Which Group Are You In?
One Group Knows About The McKenzie Method (MDT), And The Other Does Not.
If it really works, why hasn’t your Dr. recommended it?
MDT is a proven assessment and treatment program for back, neck, leg, and arm pain that your doctor may not have told you about - YET.
Why? Physical therapists have done a poor job educating health care providers on special certifications and treatment options, like MDT (also know as the McKenzie Method). Your doctor may recommend pain meds and physical therapy, and may already be referring patients to an MDT Certified physical therapist and not even know it. On the other hand, they may also be referring patients to physical therapists who do not have this special Certification.
The McKenzie Method is a three-step processfor assessment, treatment, and prevention. This total system of patient care is an approach that is trusted and used by practitioners and patients all over the world for common back and neck problems

Unique to the McKenzie Method is a comprehensive and logical step-by-step process to evaluate your problem quickly. This mechanical examination can “classify” most patient conditions by the level of pain or limitation that results from certain movements or positions. A McKenzie assessment can eliminate the need for expensive and/or invasive procedures. Research has shown the initial McKenzie assessment procedures to be as reliable as costly diagnostic imaging (i.e., x-rays, MRIs) to determine the source of the problem and quickly identify responders and non-responders. |
McKenzie treatment prescribes a series of individualized exercises that are progressed as you improve. The emphasis is on active patient involvement, which minimizes the number of visits to the clinic. Ultimately, most patients can successfully treat themselves when provided the necessary knowledge and tools. For patients with more difficult mechanical problems, a certified McKenzie clinician will provide advanced hands-on techniques which will make the home exercises more effective. |
Once range of motion has been restored and pain abolished, patients gain hands-on knowledge on how to minimize the risk of recurrence and to rapidly deal with pain if it occurs. Patients decrease the likelihood of problems recurring by learning an individualized maintenance program.
